Fitness Superstore and Octane Fitness join forces to bring no-impact running to the London Marathon with NEW Zero Runner

14 April 2015

Fitness Superstore is delighted to be joining forces with Octane Fitness to showcase the revolutionary Zero Runner® at the London Marathon 2015 Exhibition. Both teams will be on hand throughout the event to demonstrate the training benefits of this revolutionary machine, which offers all the benefits of long-distance running whilst completely eliminating stressful impact on the body.

This unique training solution has already earned outstanding reviews and is in great demand with both marathon runners and exercisers throughout the United States, including Olympians and national running champions Carrie Tollefson and Kara Goucher, as well as formally retired runners.

“In a category of its own, the Zero Runner replicates real running motion without any impact, which lets runners add kilometres safely and comfortably,” said Tim Porth, executive vice president of product development and marketing at Octane Fitness.

Ingenious innovation

Distinct from treadmills or ellipticals, the Zero Runner uses mechanical hip and knee joints and independent pedals, allowing runners to replicate their natural running gait, just like outside. Users completely control their motion throughout their run and the Zero Runner follows the runner’s movement through the initiate, pull-through, lift and extension phases.

Marathon and half-marathon prep

By supplementing miles run outside with training on the Zero Runner, runners can decrease repetitive stress caused by impact running. Training on the Zero Runner uses the same stride and muscles as runners use outside, so miles can be added without the risk of overuse or fear of not obtaining the same results.

An added benefit is the decrease in fatigue. When fatigue sets in on longer runs, poor form often results, which increases impact and stress – so now longer runs can combine kilometres outside with Zero workouts to maximise stamina, maintain form and reduce injury-causing impact. As a result, this revolutionary machine keeps people running longer and therefore expands a runner’s longevity and career.

Performance tracking

With intelligence that traces a runner’s gait while they run, the Zero Runner analyses every step, including gait length and height using its innovative SmartLink™. As miles are added, runners are equipped to track the health of their gait and ensure that they are performing at mile eleven as strong as they did at mile one.

The sleek console incorporates favourite running stats, including pace, stride length, distance, heart rate, calories burned and workout time. It also is compatible with Polar, ANT+ and Bluetooth® wireless heart rate connectivity, and includes two placement options for a tablet.

Martin Fisher, Head of E-commerce at Fitness Superstore said, “We’re delighted to be showcasing the Zero Runner at this year’s London Marathon. This machine has been developed for this demographic, so we are excited to get visitors trying it on the stand and hear their feedback. We know that injury is a big issue for runners and we’ve already enjoyed a great response online, in-store and at the Run Expo exhibition earlier this year in Manchester.”

The Zero Runner will be available to demo at this year’s London Marathon Exhibition from Wednesday 22 – Saturday 25 April on stand 340.

The Zero Runner is available to purchase online or in-store from www.fitness-superstore.co.uk.
