1-Minute-Interview-with-Justin-Logan---London-Marathon-2016-2_w As you may know, the 2016 Virgin Money London Marathon is making its grand return on Sunday 24th April. Every year, approximately 36,000 people run the 26.2-mile (42.2km) marathon through the streets of London – and no matter if you’re running, walking or simply cheering from the side-lines, this event is one not to be missed! For a sporting event this gigantic, carefully thought out and well executed training is an absolute must. We spoke to our Leeds Store Manager, Justin Logan, who is completing the marathon next weekend with his wife, Alaina, to find out everything about his training so far. And we must say, his progress so far has been quite incredible… 1-Minute-Interview-with-Justin-Logan---London-Marathon-2016-1_w How long have you been training for? My concentrated training began on 21/10/15. Since this date my wife Alaina & I have completed over 300 road miles in training runs, all tracked with my TomTom Multisport Watch. What’s your biggest training achievement to date?  Every run is an achievement, but after we completed a 24 mile training run a couple of weeks ago I now know that I can definitely do a full marathon (only 2.2 more miles), and that really stands out as my biggest achievement. My wife, Alaina, has previously completed 3 marathons (New York and London twice) so she has no worries, so I now feel better knowing I’m ready. What’s been the hardest part of your training?  Finding the time to fit in the long training runs around work and family commitments. What are you most looking forward to about the Marathon?  The whole day really. The atmosphere, the sense of achievement at the finish line, the sights… and obviously the medal! What’s the one thing that you couldn’t train without? Music!!! My Spotify playlist is my ‘can’t run without’ item! Oh, and of course my TomTom Multisport Watch. What will be your most necessary item to have with you on the big day? My wife, as we have trained pretty much every step together! What’s your guilty-pleasure song for your training? If I told you that I’d definitely lose many ‘man points’, but let’s just say I certainly have at least one! What gets you through each run? Knowing that I’m doing all this for 2 reasons, firstly personal achievement, but also to raise money for Pilgrim Bandits, a charity that helps our injured veterans (http://pilgrimbandits.org/, www.justgiving.com/logansvlm2016). What will you treat yourself to post-Marathon? A large rum and diet coke! I have been off the booze since New Year’s Eve, so I’ll definitely enjoy that. What advice would you give to fellow runners? Follow a training plan, talk to experienced marathon runners for advice, run at your own pace, listen to your body, and if you need to rest, then REST. But most of all… ENJOY IT! 1-Minute-Interview-with-Justin-Logan---London-Marathon-2016_w We’d like to wish Justin and Alaina the best of luck for the upcoming Marathon, and any donations to help raise money for the Pilgrim Bandits would be greatly welcomed - www.justgiving.com/logansvlm2016.
