Desk Treadmills
DESK TREADMILL BENEFITS
Helping to alleviate the negative effects of a sedentary work life, Desk Treadmills allow you to complete work and remain active simultaneously. Plus, a desk treadmill reduces the stress on your joints and bones when compared to walking on outside terrain, therefore reducing the risk of any injury.
WHAT TO CONSIDER
When purchasing a desk treadmill, there are several factors to consider in order to make sure you buy the best option for you.
Measure your workout space
It’s imperative that the desk treadmill you buy fits comfortably into your allocated space. Measure the length, width and height of the available area and keep this handy when browsing desk treadmills. When measuring, make sure you allow extra space for mounting and dismounting. We recommend a 2ft clearance each side, 130mm at the front and at least 3ft at the back. Don’t forget that your desk treadmill will need to be located close to a power point.
Speed
A desk treadmill need only have a 3km/h top speed for walking. However, if you desire a desk treadmill that can also be used as a regular treadmill, we recommend a speed limit of at least 10km/h (6mph).
Cushioning and stability
Cushioning on the running area helps to protect your joints from impact. Look for desk treadmills with impact-reducing/shock absorbing cushioning. The sign of good cushioning is when the desk treadmill doesn’t shake, wobble or vibrate when in use.
Protection
Floor mats: place under your desk treadmill for stability and to protect your floors from wear, as well as perspiration.
